Skylight installation across Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester & London
Professional skylight installation to bring natural daylight inside. Energy-efficient, weathertight fit for year-round comfort.
A skylight changes a room more than almost anything else you can do to it. Rooflights bring in significantly more daylight than a vertical window of the same size, and they reach the middle of a room in a way a wall window never will — which is why they transform loft conversions, landings and back extensions so completely.
The whole job, though, is the weathering. A skylight is a deliberate hole in a roof, and everything depends on how the flashing kit is dressed into the surrounding covering. Fitted properly it is watertight for the life of the unit. Fitted carelessly it becomes the leak you call someone about two winters later.

Questions about skylights
Will a skylight leak?
Not if it is flashed properly. Almost every leaking rooflight we are called to is a flashing failure rather than a failure of the unit itself, which is why we fit the correct flashing kit for your roof covering and dress it in properly.
Can you put a rooflight into a slate roof?
Yes. Slate needs its own flashing kit and careful setting out so the unit sits flush with the courses. Conservation rooflights are designed for exactly this and sit almost level with the slate.
Do I need planning permission?
Rooflights on a house often fall under permitted development, but that depends on how far they project, which roof plane they are on, and whether the property is listed or in a conservation area. We will flag anything that looks like it needs checking with the council rather than guessing on your behalf.
