Roofing service

Tiled roofing across Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester & London

Classic concrete or clay tile installation for any home. Strong, traditional style with a flawless, weatherproof finish.

Tile is the workhorse of the British roofscape. Clay gives you the warm terracotta colour that ages beautifully and holds its character for decades; concrete gives you much the same protection at a lower cost and in a wider range of profiles. Both are hard-wearing, both are easy to repair tile by tile, and both look right on the housing stock around here.

What separates a tiled roof that lasts from one that does not is rarely the tile itself. It is the setting out, the headlap, the battens, the membrane behind it and the way the ridges, verges and valleys are finished. That is where we spend the attention.

Questions about tiled roofing

Clay or concrete — which is better?

Neither is simply better. Clay holds its colour and has the traditional look many older properties were built with; concrete costs less and comes in more profiles. The right answer depends on your property, the pitch of the roof and your budget, and we will go through both at the survey.

Can you replace just a few broken tiles?

Yes, and it is often exactly the right thing to do. There is no reason to re-roof a sound covering because of a handful of cracked tiles.

How long does a tiled roof last?

A well-laid tiled roof is a long-term covering, and clay in particular is known for its longevity. What usually fails first is not the tile but the battens, the membrane or the mortar work at the ridge — which is why the detail underneath matters as much as the tile on top.
